Cookie policy
StudyMaze uses as few cookies as possible, and none for advertising or cross-site tracking. This page lists everything that's set in your browser when you use the site, including the vocabulary tool, which works without an account.
1. Strictly necessary cookies
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| session | Keeps you logged in between page loads. Set only after you log in; StudyMaze doesn't set it for anonymous visitors, including on the public vocabulary tool. | Until you log out or close your browser |
This cookie is essential to the service and can't be switched off — without it, you can't stay logged in. Under the ePrivacy rules that apply alongside the GDPR, strictly necessary cookies like this one don't require consent, only disclosure, which is what this page is.
2. Local storage (not a cookie, but similar)
Your dark/light mode preference is saved in your browser's local storage under the key
studymaze-theme. It never leaves your device and we never read it server-side.
3. Third-party requests
Every page loads webfonts directly from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and
fonts.gstatic.com). Loading a font this way means your browser makes a direct request
to Google's servers, which exposes your IP address to Google as the operator of that service. Google
does not, to our knowledge, set a tracking cookie via this request, but the request itself is a
transfer of your IP address to a third party. We don't use Google Fonts' dynamic/JavaScript loader,
analytics, or any other Google service.
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, session-replay tools, or any other third-party tracking or analytics service.
4. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Doing so will log you out of StudyMaze, since the session cookie is required to stay signed in.
5. Changes to this policy
If we change what cookies or third-party requests StudyMaze uses, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
